Who’da guessed that these are leads for the same story.
The Columbus Dispatch is notorious for its purposefully misleading headlines.
First, no disrespect meant to Mr. Connal. But this is just one more example of media bias when reporting deaths. To NBC 4 he’s a “homicide victim”, to the Dispatch, a “dead man”. Both descriptions are quite true. I read the NBC 4 story first and knew right away that he was not shot to death. How did I know? Well, the headline didn’t scream, “SHOOTING VICTIM” and the words “gun violence” didn’t appear at least twice in the first three paragraphs. As a matter of fact the NBC 4 story doesn’t mention cause of death at all. Which led me to my friend Google for some research. Presto, the Dispatch story. Again, had he been shot, the Dispatch would have used a much more inflammatory headline that would have certainly included the words, “gun” or “shooting”. And the writer would certainly have made some conjecture as to (“Glock”) what sort of (“automatic”) weapon (“Glock”) was used before ballistic reports (“automatic Glock musta had a high capacity clip”) were released. And that conjecture would have been the meat and bones of the first paragraph. ”Blunt-force trauma”, the actual cause of Mr. Connal’s demise, isn’t mentioned here until the fourth paragraph. Thank you Columbus MSM for more fine fair and balanced reporting.
The Dispatch is infamously anti-Second Amendment.
I am half surprised that they actually printed Mr. Lott’s response at all.
